Ostara 2008

In celebration of Ostara and the beautiful Spring Equinox, Forest Of Tsalagi Protogrove, ADF will be honoring this special day as a group on March 22, 2008 at the GO’s home. This will be for members and their families only (we are hoping to hold our first “open to the public” rite by the Summer Solstice or Lughnassadh).

Everyone should plan to arrive by 11am. Children and pets are always welcome! We will begin with special activities for the kids. The Rite will be held and followed by a wonderful Spring Feast (in which there will be magickal concoctions prepared by Cyndi after spending time foraging in the woods….so anyone not up for fiddle heads, nettles and greens….you may desire to bring a covered dish!) The theme for this year will be The Gifts Of Spring! Please bring things you associate with Spring and food provided will reflect the first natural harvests of the year that have been plucked from the mountains and prepared for your eating pleasure!

In addition to this, there will be a blessing of the garden (which means you all will get to assist in putting up a fence around the garden! Yes, this is my way of tricking all of you into helping me with this dreaded task. I encourage you to think ripe tomatoes and the work will be completed in no time!)

Of course we will have that one special egg again this year, as this appears to now be a tradition. I cannot wait to see which lucky individual gets the special egg and this year, will also receive a special gift for providing the laughter for everyone.

And…. Lakota finds the special egg!

The date for the Samhain Rite has been changed. Same place, same info but the date is November 3rd, 2007. This will free up everyone for their private Samhain Celebrations, yet give us the opportunity to still meet as a group. This has been discussed with all members and everyone is in agreement of this change.

Costumes are welcome, especially the children. There are some neat activities planned for the kids (ghost hunt…much like an Easter Egg Hunt but they will be searching for ghosts and goblins hiding about the area and all will be filled with goodies), apple bobbing, making popcorn balls, painting, ghost stories by the fire, coloring and much more. Lots of activities for the adults as well. The Rite will be held at 9pm. For a full list of activities, please contact Cyndi. Also…(pets are welcome!)

We have not been able to update here for a few months due to a death and other happenings that have prevented us from being as active on the site. I do apologize for this and any inconvenience it has caused.

I will be posting the plans for the Fall Equinox very shortly. Our goal is to hold our first public ritual this year. It will either be Samhain or Yule.

I have had several people from the area that are interested in the Protogrove and will be spending the next few weeks setting up meetings with these individuals to discuss what we are about and answer any questions they may have. It appears we have 8 people in total who are interested at this time. I think I will meet with everyone individually at first, as this appears to be what is most comfortable for them. I will then hold a Meet & Greet at a local restaurant so everyone can meet each other.

I will be updating several areas of this site over the next few weeks so be sire to check back regularly for updates and information.
